From Struggle to Strength
My mother is involved in caste-based sex work, and knowing its hardships, she was determined that I should choose a different path. She focused on my education, but financial difficulties made it hard for me to continue my studies.
At this crucial time, Udan’s field staff learned about my situation and brought it to the organisation’s attention. Udan then provided educational support and offered me a fellowship to teach children from the Bachhada community. Through this, I can continue my education while helping other children use learning to break free from the cycle of oppression.

My Journey to Freedom
Growing up in the Bachhada community, I never knew my real mother and faced constant pressure to enter sex work a path many girls in our community are forced to take. But I held on to a dream: to study and challenge this injustice.
When I found Udan, my understanding of these systemic wrongs deepened. With their support, I gained the courage to make my own life choices including marrying the person I love from within the Bachhada community, defying a tradition that forbids such unions.Today, I stand alongside others in the fight against caste- and gender-based oppression, committed to building a future where girls can live with dignity, equality, and the freedom to choose their own path.
